Bob & Carol Higgins wanted to make a difference in the world and were doing a pretty good job of it working in mobile medical units and piping springs to bring clean drinking water to villages in northern Uganda. But Bob drew the line when it was suggested they take on caring for a group of orphans who were barely surviving in a makeshift orphanage. His mantra: "We don't DO orphans!" But when the children were targeted for abduction by the Lord's Resistance Army, Bob and Carol could not turn away. They rescued 78 children, some of whom had been kidnapped before by the rebels and forced to become child soldiers. They now have more than 260 children and live 9,000 miles away from their own families.
